Peter's Poem
Do not look for me in the confines of this room
But look out of the window
Walk out through that door
And you will see me running "Comrades", the "Round the Mountain" race... and many more training runs and races on the shore.
Look and you will see me in my trusty little camper, seeing highways and by-ways, friends and family as I go.
You will see me in strange places, on islands, other continents, always learning in exchange for my commitment, for what I know.
I am hiking through dense forests, backpack on my back, where the birdsong and the bubbling rivers are the only songs I hear.
And you will see me climbing mountains, always climbing. Kilimanjaro, where I saw the world below me on a good day, bright and clear.
I am cycling along the foreshore, along the paths my life has taken, always moving forward. Surging forward, moving on.
I am driving through the game parks, past lion leopard, cheetah. Elephant and antelope stare as I slowly drive along.
Africa, my heart blood, that is why I kept on going, for the one last thorny sunset on a hot and dusty day.
I don't know if you knew it but to every place I travelled, I took you with me in my thoughts, shared it with you all the way.
On "Cosmos", on the oceans, spinnaker extended, in a dream that I would one day make it home...home and free.
And now I'm home again, after all my years of roaming not beholden to an anchor as I sail the mighty sea.
I will live forever with you, in your memories and dreams, I escaped! I am here...
And I am free.

There will only ever be one Peter- such a unique person. Thank you for the memories and times we shared with you in Tonga; the laughs; the practical support, the shared meals; the famous chocolate cake, and so much more. We were incredibly upset to hear of your passing. Our thoughts are with all who had the privilege to know Peter, especially his family and close friends, at this very sad time.

It was lovely to have Peter as a fellow VSA Volunteer in Tonga. He was always considerate of others, thoughtful and one of life's really good people. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this very sad time.

I was really sad to see of Pete's death. I haven't seen him for many years but always recall him as a genuinely nice guy and a lot of fun just to be with, We loved playing footy with him, and his dry and at times wicked sense of humour. I'll miss him. All my sympathy to his family - he was a wonderful person.
