Sorry to hear of this sad news. I will never forget the kindness of Tom and Emily (my other mum and dad as a kid) showed to me weekend after weekend, day after day for all the many hours I spent in your home. I was always welcomed with open arms and "gidday brown eyes" then and anytime I saw you around New Plymouth since I came back. Tom you will be sadly missed. To Emily, Chris, Tina and families I extend my deepest sympathies. Kia Kaha :(

Tom & Emily were married 17th May 1969, so I guess I've known Tom a little bit earlier than that, when they both first met. A very funny story about Tom. Everyone used to get annoyed because farmers left a party early, Tom & Fin Smith + others waited until Rose & Gary Corbett had time to get to sleep before they arrived. Got the lawnmower out, got it on the roof & started it up. The din was incredible & so was Gary & Rose's screaming & yelling. Thanks for the memories Tom.

We continue without a great man today. But we don't want him suffering the woes of his earthy body. It allowed us to get to know him though. He'd say to us when we visited " there's your mountain..." and I'd have a look. Taranaki looked over into your home every day looming majestic. Wishing we had more time to spend getting to know you even better. We will remember your kind and caring nature. Our love to Aunty Emily and our dear cousins.

Thomas, thanks for the memories, will miss seeing your lopsided grin and hear your cheeky laugh. And thanks for picking Dennis and I up from the airports over the years, it made our stay more enjoyable. Remember the time u picked me up from Auckland, we got to the Mokau bridge construction, and even though the light was red...u said there wouldnt be anyone coming the other way at that time of the morning. Bugger... didnt see those semi headlights ah. You did a pretty neat back up job....LOL. Rest in peace Tom, and a safe journey home.

Thomas, we will surely miss you. Thanks for the memories, your cheeky laugh, silly grin and your helpfulness. Without your's and Emily's generosity all these years, my stays with you both would not have been as pleasant. Thanks for picking Dennis and I up at the airports over the years. Remember that trip back from Auckland airport, and you decided that the red light on the Mokau bridge construction didnt matter, you drove on, only to meet a semi half way. Some smart backing up had to be done...LOL. Know that I will always be there for Em. Rest in peace and a safe journey home.
