'PRAYER OF AIRBORNE FORCES'

May the defence of the most high be above and beneath, around and within us, in our going out and our coming in, in our rising up and our going down, through all our days and our nights, until dawn when the Son of Righteousness shall rise with healing in His Wings for the peoples of the world, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Thinking of my second family with fond thoughts of adventures and tall tales, of mountain climbing in the dead of night, how cunning you all were knowing I would never get to the top if I could see how far it was. Grateful for all the great memories, the laughs and family times.

To Mark & Carol, we send our deepest condolences on the passing of your Dad, and "Uncle Vic" to the Masters clan. I have many fond memories of Uncle Vic as we were growing up and will cherish these always. May the Good Lord take care of him now, just as we know he does with Joan. Much love, Susan and Philip

As a school boy in 1958-9 I met Mr. Rhodes. I cleaned the pattern shop and watched the use of explosives to shatter cast iron behind Paritutu. I learned a heap. I left New Plymouth in 1960 and saw Vic only once more in 2015 at Stratford. Far too long. I continue the respect that i learned from the contact with Mr. Rhodes and I always carried the respect that my father had for Vic.

To Mark and Carol, I would like, through the use of the Guest Book made available in the Taranaki Daily News, to express my sympathy on the recent death of your father Vic. My own first contact with the Rhodes family was in the early 1970s at Francis Douglas. With the death now of both parents the final curtain has come down, leaving no doubt many happy memories of the years now gone.
Vic was truly a very capable and remarkable man. And you were greatly blessed in having been given such wonderful parents in Joan and Vic.
May the Good Lord welcome your father Victor Sowden home with outstretched arms..
