Dear Betty and family,
Sorry we did not make it for Alan's funeral. Sandy and I left for New Plymouth early on Wednesday morning, but had to turn back due to unforeseen circumstances when we got to Hamilton.
Our thoughts are with you all.

Our sympathy to all the family in the loss of Alan. It was great to have met and got to know him and to have learnt stories of the family and life in Taranaki in the past.

Dear Betty
Eric and I send our deepest sympathy to you and the family in the loss of Alan.
In the years that Alan worked in Wellington at Robins MBS or was it Chandler and Taylor then, I observed what a close couple you were in your devotion to each other. Although we never met your family we knew how much they meant to you both. I have let David Orpin, Ross and Barbara Cuff and Martyn and Marg Norrie know in case they did not read the notice in the NZ Herald.
Eric and I have retired to Tauranga since 2011. With love Julie Sherburd

Sorry we cannot be with you.

It was wonderful to share time with Betty and Alan at Johnsonville and again in Waikanae.
At Waikanae we enjoyed many BBQ's and played golf together.
We were always envious of Alan at golf - with his strong wrist action (from building) he could send the ball miles down the fairway leaving us well behind.

We chuckled at his many stories of his Army Band escapades.
He was obviously a "top" insurance assessor with the alertness and ability to identify doubtful claims.

It was always obvious that Bet. and Al. were a devoted and loving couple.

Our sympathies to Betty and family.
