RIP Kerry.
A man larger than life with a devil may care attitude and a heart of gold.
I remember when the Urenui Swing Bridge was collapsing in a flood. Kerry was the last person across before the bridge collapsed from the Golf course end, with a sigh and a groan it slowly succumbed to the river. Despite me saying no don't do it, he did with a chuckle and an 'I can swim' with that he walked across. This, even though the bridge foot boards were already touching the water.
Kerry, a man in a million.
Happy fishing.

Kerry was a Urenui icon, likable, friendly, & a hard case. We were shooting the breeze one day and he said to me he had once owned a D4 Caterpillar-I said I had one too, a 7U 1950 narrow gauge model, he said his was the same as well and he had been looking for it for over 25 years. He shot over to the County Depot and there it was, his logging bulldozer all shiny & restored-he was overjoyed to finally locate it & just around the corner from his home in Urenui.
RIP Kerry & condolences to the family.

To Kerry's family my thoughts are with you at this sad time.
I first met Kerry when he coached me at football in Eltham. I then worked for him when he was contracting and we had many memorable occasions after work. A man's man and we'll known in Eltham for his exploits. Heaven will never be the same. I last saw Kerry at my dad's funeral wearing a bushman singlet. Thanks for some amazing memories Kerry. Gods speed.

To Kerrianne,
Ngaire and I were saddened to learn of Kerry's death, and send our sincere sympathy to you and your family.
I knew Kerry all of my life as he was a neighbour to my old home farm when he first lived on Rawhitiroa Road, and later on King Edward Street.
I played rugby with him at Eltham in the late 50s
When we moved to North Taranaki and we met often we would have a good laugh and reminisce at some of the boyhood escapades that took place, one involved the local policeman.
His cheery personality and quick wit will be missed, but good memories will linger.

To Kerrianne & Family,
Kerry was the best manager for the football team I played for in Eltham 50 years ago. I had great respect for hi and it was great to reconnect in recent years especially when he stayed with us at Mako Mako not so long ago. We learned about his life, adventures and practical jokes. Kerry was a long-time friend of the How family and that helped to re-kindle the friendship.
Last Sunday we were out at Mako Mako up on the hill and we were talking about the time Kerry climbed to the top with his walking stick in one hand and pulling himself up the fence line with the other.
A kiwi fighter in more ways than one.
RIP Kerry

To Kerry's family. Our condolences. We had a lot to do with Kerry when our son rented his flat. He would do anything for you if he could. First met him in Eltham when I was at Stanners' Motors. A strong very fair man. RIP. Dennis and Evelyn Mills.

To all the family can I offer my sincere condolences. Kerry, as I knew him, was larger than life and will always be remembered. I first met Kerry as a young teacher in Eltham in the 70s and grew to love and respect him despite the many pranks he played on me. However, when serious he was a good man to chat with. One of the best was when he stopped by my office when I was Principal of Pukekohe Intermediate. That conversation lasted a long time and the stories told brought great laughter. To all the family he was a good man and I respected him immensely. Arohanui Kerry, I will always remember you.
