Passed away peacefully on his own terms, surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, aged 69. Dearly loved husband of Cathy. Cherished father of James and Sam. Loved son of Ronald and Dorothy Mundell (both deceased). Loved son-in-law of Joan Gaines and Peter Gaines (dec). Beloved brother of Sharon Heke, Kerry Mundell and Lester Mundell (dec). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice Taranaki. Messages to Al's family may be left on his tribute page at eagars.co.nz/alastair. A service to celebrate Al's life will be held at Eagars Te Henui Chapel, 46 Watson Street, New Plymouth on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at 2.00pm.

Cathy & family ~ What a sad loss for you all. Al was such a good man. I enjoyed sharing djembe drumming times with him. His rhythmic skills, enthusiasm and kindness were deeply valued. May he now rest in Peace ~ Dee Costello
