Alison was a wonderful surrogate mother to me when we first arrived in Eltham in the early 1980s. She was also witting and intelligent and we so enjoyed her company. Unfortunately I haven't seen her for a couple of years partly due to covid. She was blessed with a long and eventful life and a large family. We send our love to all of you from Maree and Roger

To the Crafar family
Alison was a very special loving lady leaving many treasured and special memories with the Johnson family. She was a special friend and companion of my late father Ray Belcher who often spoke how he was welcomed into the Crafar family. We will miss our many visits to see her in New Plymouth and our long phone conversations.
Memories of Alison will remain with your family forever.

Hello Family
I popped in and saw your Mum in November when I was in New Plymouth. My husband, Grahame has cousins in Tainui, so I visited your Mum when down over the last few years.
We talked over Taoroa days until now. In November we had a lovely time.
Helen, I trust you are well. Alison said you are still in Stratford and that Megan is still in the same house in New Plymouth.
Jennifer, Paul, Kevin and Dean, you are part of my Taihape memory. Happy birthday for the 11th Kevin. Mine is the 10th.
My brothers John and David have already left us. Just my sister Christine , who was only 6 weeks old when we left Taoroa, and myself.
Remember your home in Eltham. Your amazing garden there. Remember Mangatoki. Remember when your Dad was in hospital in Wanganui. Trust you are well in Australia Jennifer. Claire, your Mum said I just missed you when I visited in November.
My husband , Grahame and I live in Takapuna. We have two children. Andrew and Sarah. They both became teachers like John and I did. We all live in Auckland. We have four grandchildren.
Big hugs to you all.
So glad I got to spend one more time with your Mum. Very precious.

CRAFAR, Alison:
Former pupils tell of her success and popularity as a teacher. Alison shared so much of herself - generous in giving time and practical help to others. We enjoyed her wicked sense of humour delivered with an irrepressible smile. Her creativity reflected her personality. Tainui residents and staff extend their sincerest sympathy to Alison's family.
