The New Plymouth Old Boys' cricket club acknowledge the passing of Alistar Jordan, president and life member of the club. Ali joined Old Boys' in 1966. He played for the club, Taranaki, Central Districts and New Zealand. He has served on the club's management committee since 1967. He played the leading roles in developing the upstairs clubrooms, the nets and the pitch at Western Park in New Plymouth, and many other projects. He coached countless numbers of young cricketers, Taranaki-wide. Ali was a guiding light to everyone at Old Boys' and left a remarkable imprint on the club, and a special legacy. New Plymouth Old Boys' is fortunate to have had him as a member. His contribution cannot be overstated, without doubt the greatest of any member. Thank you, Ali, we respect you and you will be greatly missed.

Sad to hear of the passing of Ali. I only know of him as a young cricket fan watching him bowl when CD played Wellington in the Plunket Shield. My late husband, Fred Goodall, was fortunate to see his bowling skill up close many times when he umpired CD matches. He often talked about Ali´s skill as a fast bowler. Sincere condolences to the Jordan family.

Very sad to read of Ali´s passing. Great guy and wonderful servant of CD and Taranaki. Always a pleasure to come back to Pukekura Park and catch up. The first bowler I face in FC Cricket. On a hattrick and Ali bounced me. RIP my friend.

So sorry to hear of Ali´s passing. He was a pleasure to talk to when I was working as Sports Editor of the Taranaki Daily News. He always made himself available to the media and gave an honest report of the state of the game. My sympathy goes out to his family.

We are Di and Ali"s cousins Gary and Marlene Carter who live in Adelaide Australia. They visited us in late June after a long train trip from Darwin. It was so lovely to see them both after many years apart. Ali looked tired at the time but still had his cheerful smile. Our cousin Di looked cheerful but concerned about Ali. Paisley and Raewyn were with them on the trip. It was so nice to catch up with them again. We both knew Ali had health problems but did not realize how unwell he was. We are devastated to hear about Ali's passing. Our cousin Di and children have lost a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ali was a man who would do anything for any one. A soft and a gentle giant who the world is lost without him in it. Lots of love to you Di children and grandchildren. Gary and Marlene xxxxx00000

I'm so saddened to read of Alister passing. A member of Jordan family Joggers relay team in the TSB Around the Mountain relay [a couple of years ago] he was a deceptive runner - looking as he was just cruising along but always did fast times for his legs. Thinking of this branch of the family at this sad time. Sorry I am unable to make it to the funeral. Enjoy your final run into the sunset Alistar.

On behalf of my whanau and myself we´d like to send our heartfelt condolences on hearing the news of Ali´s passing.
Although I didn´t know him well, as a player at NPOB CC my lasting memory is the times he helped me with my bowling in the nets at Western Park. It is still deeply engraved in my memory. My brother, Brad knew Kent at school and when our Father passed in November 1999 Ali sent a card of condolence to us which also sticks hard in my memory. And meant so much at a very sad time.
Go well to the other side Ali, the bowling attack just got a little more fire in it up there. I´ll send a few seeds down the track on Saturday in your memory

To Diane & family. So sorry to hear of Ali's passing. I first met Ali while working at Moa-Nui trading Store and the many times I visited the farm always got a welcome. In later years while at Waitara the many times I delivered maize & grass seed to the run off and Ali's visits to the store often to get new electric fence reels that vanished from the farm. The talks we had over nearly 40 years will always be remembered
