ANDREWS, Allan Murray:
It's with much sadness that the Andrews family announce the sudden passing of Allan on 11 January 2022, aged 78 years, at home with family. Allan did not want Doreen to undertake her passing 6 days earlier alone so decided to join her on the day she was laid to rest. Beloved husband to the late Doreen, father to Christina, Michael, and Margaret, much loved Grandad to 9, Great-Grandad to 15, and Great-Great-Grandad to one. In his roles as both Senior Sergeant of the Police and as Mayor, he served Te Kuiti in his best capacity. Allan will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched but most especially by his family. A Service for Allan will be held at The Les Munro Centre, King Street East, Te Kuiti, on Saturday, 15th January at 1.00pm, followed by private cremation. All communications to the Andrews family, c/- PO Box 137, Te Awamutu.

Remember the great times when Allan was in Wanganui, as a policeman seems a long time ago now. My husband Allan Goddard too has passed, I suppose a parade will be held upstairs. I can understand them wanting to be together. Condolences to the family, from one of his police family. Jane Rutherford née Goddard

When I moved into the te kuiti area, Allan was one of the first people I got to know a little. Both having a horse at the aerodrome paddocks meant our paths sometimes crossed. He was cheerful and kind and I ended up getting a horse off him so I could breed a hunter. After I left the areodrome for different grazing, Allan always stopped for a chat whenever i saw him. This in a town that I found most people stood back to assess you before becoming friendly. He was not like that, which showed his police training and his good nature. With his love and support of family and his jobs as Policeman, Mayor and Gun inspector, he lived his life well.
