Andrea, I knew you only for a brief moment in time, when our paths crossed that evening by the river. I did not see you again, or know your story, but the world works in mysterious ways...
As Fate would have it, by pure chance, I met your beautiful Colleen this evening. I did not know who she was, but as we talked, the penny dropped.
When I met you that evening, you were telling me all about your beautiful dogs and it was clear to me that they meant the world to you. It was so cold out there that evening, but you radiated warmth. It somehow also seems fitting to know now that you were once a nurse too (I was studying to be a nurse, although at the time, I didn´t know that about you).
Thank you Colleen for sharing Andrea´s (and your) story with me - I feel very privileged.
Much love xx

Our darling Ange
Thank you for taking care of our Aunty Colleen and my little cousin Ciaran.
As sad as I am, I know you are now at peace. Your dementia was something you told me you wished on no one.
I still remember Christmas day and you giving me my first chicken. Going with you to pick up your first Old English Sheep Dog.
Our happy days at New Plymouth Morley street. And many more. Soft ball, you playing nurses with me.
You had a big heart which I was lucky to see.
Love you always
Joy bells xxxx

Dear Colleen, I am saddened to learn of Andrea's passing - it was a shock to read this today. In the brief times I met her she was so much like her Mum (Aunty Lillian) - a beautiful caring warm hearted person who always cared about others and didn't that go on into her career and life where she absolutely shone like a diamond. Please accept my condolences - I am thinking of you all xxxxx

My Darling Andrea
Our home was quiet during your last weekend as you were so sick and just felt no need for the radio or television; but it is even quieter now; not hearing your soft breathing noises; your loud radio playing constantly; your movements as you got up during the nights; sometimes also needing to turn the light on outside my room; or your asking our fur babies to move so you could get past. At times these could be annoying; but still are noises that I will treasure with love forever.
I hope you enjoyed your service today; was not always on track; but your darling nieces in Joy and Kim helped keep up the banter that I started up front and everyone had a Joyous time. Many little stories being told and shared with all those close family and friends whom came to share with you their memories of working with you; just meeting you &/or being a work colleague of mine and knew how much I cared about you and of course often spoke about your antics.
So My Love go well and talk to me often and know I Loved You Dearly and I know that you too Loved and Cared and worried about me & our family. We will carry on as best we can do and Ciaran & I will stay strong for one another also.
Love forever Andrea; from Colleen and of course from Keisha and Tilly and all our other fur babies before them. xx

Knew Michael, throughout my childhood as neighbours, at school when he came to watch his sister play sports and then as a student, arguing traditions and winning in Maternity. Later as Andrea at WITT and TDHB. Always friendly, often controversial, you made your mark. My condolences to Andrea's family.

Tena koe Colleen,
It is with deepest respect that I acknowledge Andrea. I was truly saddened to receive your email about her passing and want you to know that I am holding you in my thoughts today. Andrea was an extraordinary woman, so respected, and a remarkable nursing tutor and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to nurturing student nurses left a lasting impression. She lived by strong values and carried them with grace and humility. It was both a privilege and an honour to learn alongside her and journey together as colleagues. Colleen, I know Andrea´s passing will leave a deep sadness for you. May you find comfort in knowing that her teachings continue to live on, reflected in the care, compassion, and professionalism of the many nurses she guided. Her influence is present still, wherever those nurses practise. E moe, e te whaea. Haere atu ra ki te ringa ringa o te atua me te urupa o tou mama me nga tupuna. Haere atu ra e te whaea. Nga mihi,
