Annie Brown Obituary

Annie Ruth Brown
October 1, 2025
Annie Ruth Brown, age 93, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday Oct 1, 2025, peacefully during her sleep. She was born on September 26, 1932, in Lake City, South Carolina, the daughter of the late John Brown and the late Julia Flowers., and was predeceased by her sisters Ollie Mae DeValda and Ora Lee Anderson, by her brother Shin Brown, and by her step-brother Bob (Jackie) Graham.
Ruth grew up in Lake City, South Carolina, attending public schools where she was a stellar student. She worked in many capacities upon her arrival in Connecticut, and spent over 40 years as a supervisor at Perkin Elmer, winning several awards and trips. She was also an avid bowler, and won many awards and trophies.
Ruth was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Norwalk, Connecticut, and loved her church family. She served on the Usher Board, provided support in the church office, and volunteered for the food pantry, but her greatest joy was creating flower arrangements for the sanctuary and caring for plants outside of the main entrance.
Ruth did not have children of her own, but she truly had all of us. She raised all of her nieces, nephews, and god-children - she was truly a second mother to us all. Those left to cherish her memory include Kenneth DeValda, Gregory DeValda, Craig DeValda, Sandra Michelle Anderson-Mason, Andrea Lynn DeValda, Rosemeri Anderson, Damin Shippy, Nhatisha Sturgis, Ebony DeValda (Wanda Nelson), Nicole Mason, Erika Mason, Kevin Lane, Ashante DeValda (Lori Manigo), Siera Elmore, Jayden DeValda, Samantha DeValda, Erma (Larry) Canty, and a host of grandnieces and nephews, and many close friends.
We Love you Aunt Ruth (Nana).

My sister and I met Aunt Ruth as children. Although we wasn't actual our Aunt, she treated us as her nieces. We are so grateful for life. Her beautiful smile and spirit she carried will live forever. Prayers to her family!

Love, Tootie and Fruitie
