Ashley WARD Obituary
Passed away with family by his side after a courageous battle on Saturday 18 February 2023 at Logan Hospital, Brisbane. Aged 69. Dearly loved son of Eva and Ken (deceased), much loved brother of Dallas and long time friend of Colleen and family. A valued member of the New Plymouth Hot Rod Club. A service will be held in Brisbane, Wednesday 22 February 2023 and a memorial in New Plymouth at a later date.

Ash's mum Eva and my dad Ritchie Mcleod were cousins, so when we moved to New Plymouth in 1964 we would often visit the Wards on a Sunday afternoon at their home in Bell Block, which back then was semi industrial and semi-rural. Ash probably never forgave me for pranging his go-kart against a lamppost on Nugent St. Condolences to Dallas, his family and his friends, from the Mcleods, John, Ray, Heather (deceased), and Glen.

Gone too soon, very sad day when we learnt of Ash's passing :( Ash was a very kind hearted, fun and wonderful gentleman. We always enjoyed our chats with him and deeply wish this wasn't the end :( Ash will be greatly missed by many and not forgotten. Photo from his service this afternoon.

To my good mate Ash, I enjoyed our chats over a few beers at the Greenbank RSL while singing a few tunes around the piano, for many years. Our "it's a small world" moment when we realised you knew some of my family from the early 1970's in New Plymouth. It was always great talking with you and being your mate. Rest in peace my friend, you were taken too soon, but you were one of the best. You will never be forgotten.
