Dear Mandy and Whanau,
I am heart broken to hear the passing of your mum, she had been a part of my life for so many years this started when she taught me figure / speed skating from when I was about 10 years old. Then when I left school at the age of 16 I went to her at SPELD and she help me learn I was not dumb but had dyslexia and dyscalculia and then helped me understand how to make it work for me. Life went on and we would catch up at the warehouse often lol. In my thirties I started the nursing degree at WITT, she became my side kick for everything smoko buddy through to helping me understand the curriculum jargon. I remember her telling me how she was very proud of me for achieving this goal and I could not have completed this with out her ongoing support and guidance through out my academic life.
I had seen her about two weeks before she passed at the warehouse it was a quick catch up but she was the same Barb I had known most of my life, bubbly, smiling, bright eyed and truly a wonderful strong woman. I will miss her so much. All my love to you and your family and thankyou xxx

Barbara was not only a good teacher but she was also a wonderful person. She helped me to discover that I was slow or stupid but that I had a learning disorder called Dyslexia she helped me to understand that I could learn and have fun. I loved this woman as a friend and as a teacher I was a adult student for may years and when I need help she was always there. GOD BLESS YOU BARBARA I will say a prayer for you with our lord.

I worked with Barbara for several years and I know that many students have her to thank for their success. She was a huge supporter of the struggling student and would go above and beyond the call of duty to help. She was also a great supporter of us foundation tutors. Sorry I can't be there to farewell you Barbara but THANK YOU

Sympathy to the family. Barbara's help to this former WITT student was a gift that kept on giving in exams for years after. Gone to soon.
