I am sadden that I didn't get to say goodbye Barry. You were the most amazing friend and sometimes flatmate. I will always cherish the wonderful memories of our time sharing your house in Wellington.

My condolences to Barry's family. I met him several times, and we would talk about cricket. He was always very friendly towards me, with a generous spirit and a great memory for the game, which he so willingly shared. He was of great assistance to me when I wrote a book on the Taranaki Hawke Cup successes of the 1970s. Thank you Barry.

Very sad to hear of Barry's passing- some great times playing cricket against him on + off the field when he was in the Naki. Condolensces to family.

Basin Reserve Cricket Tests will never be the same again without Bottles. We will never forget his real life stories told with magnificent humour. He was a great Community man. In 2004 at a Trent Bridge Test Barry was invited to have lunch with the mayor of Nottingham. Four hours later he returned to his seat, his smile was a mile wide and he almost had us in tears of laughter relaying the stories. He was so proud Chris to have received that invite. Our deepest Sympathy to all the family. Clark and Linda McLean and Bevan Murray

Very sorry to hear of Barry's passing. I met him in 1994 when I played cricket in Marlborough for a season and I've never forgotten his infectious personality and sense of humour. A real character who will be missed by many.

I first met Bottles in the early 80s, when he joined WCOB RFC as a coach, and I had the great good fortune to be in his team. He knew his stuff and we had so much fun and it was a memorable team that I have never forgotten, and I will certainly never forget Bottles, one in a million and forever my favorite coach
