Through the years growing up in Moturoa there were characters, lots of them. 'Barry Chris' was one.
From a well-known local dynasty he stood out as your "happy-as-you-go" bro in our mixed community.
Like whilst collecting social history we marvelled at that fulla Barry tracking through most of the material, in photos etc.
Unerringly he's in all those sports and events. "We seek him here, we seek him there !"
Visiting Chalmers a year back Barry was complimented for his "been there done that". Barry just shrugged.
Legend.

Extending deepest sympathy to all of the Christensen family.
Barry was first cousin to my late husband, Graeme Johns. There were many family gatherings in the early years of which I have found memories. We all knew Barry well, especially from when he ran the Moturoa shoe shop.
Rest in peace Barry, a life well lived, a rest well earned.

I was saddened to read of Barry´s passing. I have many fond memories of my association with Barry (Bureau No 60) during our days working in the Waterfront Industry. Barry was well respected by his fellow workers and employers alike. As mentioned in his notice Barry was a talented sportsman, he excelled in any game he turned his hand to.
Sorry I can´t attend Barry´s farewell as I am in the South Island.
R.I.P. Barry.
