Passed peacefully Saturday with her daughters by her side. Dearly loved Mum and Mum-in-law of Brooke Ovenden and Ross Walker, Gina, and Dave Topping. Beloved nana of Ava and Jessica. Loved "Dene" of Bruce Ovenden. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Karen and Ron Brown (deceased), Amber (deceased) and Terry O'Callaghan (deceased), Justine Brennan and Noel FitzGerald, Steph, and Brent Cockerill. Loved Aunty Dene to all her nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to Abi Ryan. Many Thanks to Dr Andrew McNeill and the wonderful staff at Molly Ryan Lifecare for looking after Mum with kindness and compassion. A service to celebrate Dene's life will be held at Eagars Te Henui Chapel, 174 Lemon Street, New Plymouth, on Thursday 28 April 2022 at 10.30am. Messages to the Ovenden Family may be left on Bernadine's tribute page at eagars.co.nz/dene. For those unable to attend Bernadine's funeral will be livestreamed via her tribute page

We were very sorry to learn of Bernadine's passing. I remember her well from the days when I was boarding with the Overton family when I was attending NPBH School. Bruce, Steph. and Justine will no doubt remember me. I have many great memories of my year boarding with the family, and appreciated the help Dene gave me in writing my school essays and other homework. Our thoughts are with you all at this sad time.

Yes Karen loving thoughts to you. I was able to watch the service on line and realised then you were in Australia. Seeing photos on the horse brought back many memories. Eagers have my email address. So much water under the Waitara bridge!!
