Christine, Kevin, Shane & Lana and Meier Family,

Such a hard farewell to have to make but nice to know that he is with his beloved Val again.

Fond memories of our haymaking days from the late 60s and 70s on our then land at Cheal Rd, with your dad driving the bailer and many hands making light work.

To Chris & Val´s girls, I´ve already sent a message, but this is more about memories: Chris had a couple three names, but he was allways , "Chris" for me. Known Chris & Val since the late 70´s, doing work for them mowing / raking there hay or someone else´s in the district. He´d let me build things in his O´l workshop, or tinker around at something, even spraying that damn Ragwort, all on a casual basis, if I did not have other outside work.
He´d come out with a laugh or two & joke, nothing was too much of a problem.
Then when I left the area, and I´d come back to Taranaki, on one of my trips, it was always, I mean always, it was on my list to drop in without warning expecting a cup of tea & biscuits or some of Val´s cooking, and we´d have a good O´l natter about everyday stuff, life & families. These times were precious to me because we built up such a close friendship & even with the family. Chris would have a laugh and joke, have a 2nd cuppa , then on my way until the next time in Taranaki.
I was only thinking about you the other day, before you decided to fall off the perch, and on my trip,dropping in and seeing you, even though Val would not be present.

So many wonderful memories at Urenui and Cheal Rd. The odd gin and bottle of red wine along with banter and friendship that will always be remembered.
RIP Christopher.

My condolences and best wishes to you all. It feels like the passing of an era. I will always be grateful for being able to work with Chris as his Accountant until it was time to hand the role on breaking a link that went back to Roy Lithgows time. Unfortunately I can't attend the celebration of his life, but will be there in spirit.

Remember fondly our families sharing a picnic lunch @ Ngamouta beach in the early 50's then we used to go on the ships that used to be birthed @ the wharf on many occasions which was a thrill.lOur sympathy to the family in the loss of this fun loving man.

So sorry to read of Chris's passing I knew him in my youth days @ Ngaere,His parents (Doug & Frances & my parents (Archie & Helen) were great stalwarts of the Ngaere Benedict Dance Club & were also great friends.My condolences to Joanne Brian(Glen Amber) & family in your loss take care & be strong for one another.
