We have only just heard about Colin. Very sad news. Colin did a few jobs for us and was always very obliging and a lovely man. It is taking a while to sink in that he is no longer alive. Sincere sympathy to his family. He will be missed by the Otaki community.

Colin was a joy. Hard working, reliable, honest, interesting, helpful. Shocked and so saddened to hear of his death. He talked of you, his parents, of growing up in PioPio (I was in Otangiwai & Matiere), of going to visit his parent, but not for too long as there was a job to do, of time in the Navy (Persian Gulf) and last I saw him, that he was ready to slow down, get a big boat, enjoy. My deepest sypathy to his family. My deepest regrets, Colin.

Sincere condolences and love to Colins family from his extended Navy family. Taken way too soon. He is remembered by many old Navy shipmates (there is a navy page on facebook where people pay respects to shipmates and he is remembered fondly) Kind regards Sue Ballantyne

With respect from all of us here at GBC Winstones Otaki. A neat guy, straight shooter and a hard worker. One of our local contractors we supported, and a bloke we admired. Be at peace, Col.

I have just had it confirmed that this is Colin of Digging Out Otaki.
I am so sad to hear of Colin's death. He did a lot of work for me. He was a hard worker, reliable and had a great sense of humour. A lasting memory was Colin leaping off his digger after running over a wasp nest. The digger kept going a short distance as he sprinted away from the angry wasps. We had a great laugh about that incident.
My thoughts are with the family as they mourn this great guy.
