I recall "Poly" and his booming presence well in the old Police days at NP. Terry McGreevy was the prosecutor and Poly the court orderly as the position was called then. Court was once a week on Mondays and it was all over before lunch. It was Polys job to serve all the (few) summons and he did this on Tuesday nights. He always wore his police beano helmet - when driving the patrol cars. He was the only one who ever did this. Luckily in those days the cars had good head clearance! He struck me as a larger than life friendly chap - very comforting and reassuring to green and new cops starting their careers. Sincere condolences to "Polys" family.

Sorry to hear of Colin´s passing, Colin was friends with my dad from Huatoki Street & I got to know Colin as a young man from over 50 years ago, he helped me pick up a old 37 Ford years ago. I would often stop in at his Huatoki Street shed & yak about old car stuff & see what he was up to more so in the later years, he always wanted to no what was going on in the neighbourhood & what everyone was up to. I got more into his stories of his life & found his stories enjoyable & entertaining. I´m amazed he was still coming back to New Plymouth every few weeks mowing those lawns, l think he was 93 the last time I saw him there! I did give him a call when I didn´t see him there for a few months and he had been looking after Pam, Will be missed. Gary & Maree Webber
