To Lou,Sue ,Maree and the black family.
I took a memorial ride for Dave this morning the legacy of what David Black started in so many young people keeps going on some 40+ years later in my case and so many other people´s lives.
Dave has made such a huge contribution to young people and set us up for very positive lives.
The amount of Time Dave put into us all will never be forgot, and his Legacy will continue for a very long time.
Without the help and encouragement of David Black we would have never got going. Your whole family played a huge roll in keeping us all going to races and you all helped to make this happen.
The real start in the sport for me was the 8-week promotion race organised by Dave Black, Charlie Black, and Colin Kelson.
I was lucky to win this first prize a new racing bike and have not look back since over the last 40+ plus years of enjoyment and love of Bike riding.
Often when I am riding, I think of how much Dave and the whole black family did for me and the rest of the people of south Taranaki.
This have never been forgot and never will by me and so many other people.
Rest in peace You have been a huge contributor to young people and the whole cycling community David Black
Always appreciated never forgotten.

I remember Dave's shop opposite ours in Union St- Relda's mum Mrs Familton a door or two further up. Dave always had all the handlebars aligned just so..I could only imagine what it would be like to ride one of those fabulous speedy machines. A good quietly spoken man who will be missed. My condolences to you his family. Arohanui

Sincere condolences to David's family. So many fond memories of him and our chats when he had the cycle store and thankful for the support he gave us at new world for the RSA raffles. He always had a joke or two and didn't beat around the bush. A great man who will be sadly missed.

Thinking of the Black family at this sad time. I remember racing with / against Dave, plus him being on the finish line at so many races throughout Taranaki with our father Norm plus Aurthur Clarke and a few of the other officials that served the sport over many many years. I also remember him helping Mike Savage and team when Hawera Harrier Club held interclub events back in my running days. I unfortunately can not be there on Wednesday. RIP Dave

On the Saturday morning when the news broke, Michael was gearing up for a ride in which Dave was to follow him in his car. Dave had provided hours of free training advice, notes, and supervision on rides in 2024 for his newly adopted prodigy. Michael's placings and progress in a short time with the Hawera Road Cycling Club was in no doubt assisted by Dave's input and showed Dave's commitment to cycling, still tutoring to the very end. Condolences to family and friends, what a legend.

To Lou,Sue,Maree & Families, So sorry to hear of the passing of Dave, What a strength he has been to the Hawèra Cycling Club for yrs in so many ways, Also to the BMX club along with the WCNI Cycling world. When ever Dave wasn't running a meeting he would be there to help out. I can remember the days when Dave & Irene would arrive on a Tuesday night @ approx 5.30pm pick up our boys along with 3 or 4 others in the Nissian van & head off to Wanganui track Cycling & then back home again & then if that wasn't enough Dave & Irene would be back again on Thurs evening to pick up the boys & head in the other direction to New Plymouth track riding. Dave always had a group of kids in his shop in Union St after school showing them how to fix there bikes or setting them up for riding them. Dave will be missed throughout the Cycling clubs along with the strength he put into the South Taranaki RSA. My I & Shayne, & Mark thoughts be with you all @ this sad time for you all.

Well Mr Black (Dave my friend) you often replied when asked "How are you?" - "Well I got up this morning" Sadly on Saturday you didn't and this makes me sad. We often met over a cuppa and put the world right. You were a great RSA supporter and stood by my side on many occasions. We will miss you. Condolences to all the Black Family.
