So sorry to hear this sad news. I will always remember and appreciate the welcome and support provided by Denise & Steve helping me and my family settle in during our first year in NZ 1996 - and valued her friendship since. Continued to have great respect and admiration for her dedication and service to the community. Thoughts with her whanau & friends. Rest in Peace Denise.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Denise. During my work in education I often had conversations with Denise and admired her dedication and her straight talking when we were discussing difficult cases. Her sense of humour was always there also. She will be missed by so many. My condolences to her family.

Saddened by this news, a lovely person with a huge heart and a soul to match, was a true friend to my mum and hopefully the three of you will bump into each other and enjoy each others company once again.
Mum always said that when she met you and Steve many year's ago it felt as if you had been friend's from a previous time as you were so easy to get on with.
R.I.P. Denise, it was a pleasure to have known you.

Dear Denise....you will be greatly missed by so many...your passion for justice and fairness and caring was an inspiration. I loved your frankness and your crazy sense of humour, and your political incorrectness. I am grateful to have worked with you....Thank you. You and Steve are together now. Arohanui Nicola and family.

So sorry to read about Denise's passing. I remember her sense of humour and hard work ethic when I first met her in the 1970s. Then her determination, staunch advocacy and her red Corolla in later years. Condolences to her family and wider community family as well.

To my respected sister-in-law - I will miss your sense of humour, your frank and honest attitude, your amazing work ethic, your generosity and your loyalty to the things you believed in. The Hawera Police and Hawera Community have lost two great people with the recent passing of Steve and Denise. Both were passionate volunteers and part of a great group of people that monitor our town's crime cameras. And Steve was also a great contributor for firearms safety/procedural matters in the District. I feel privileged to have known them, and thank them for their service to Hawera for far more than just the two examples above.
