Many, many years ago, my mother, Joan Pitcairn,used to 'babysit' Paula when Trevor and Betty were busy in their Okato shop! In more recent times I knew Betty through our association with Bell Block School. She was a passionate and dedicated music teacher, respected and admired by many. Unfortunately I am unable to pay my respects to Betty at the funeral on Thursday as I have to be in Hamilton. Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of a beloved mother and an inspirational friend and music teacher.
