September 6, 1931 - August 29, 2021
Passed away on August 29, 2021 at Shelburne Residence at the age of 89, one week before her 90th birthday. She leaves behind 2 daughters, Catherine and Susan and 1 son, George (Bobby). She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Sarah, David, Nichole, T.J. and Michelle. She was double blessed with 19 great-grandchildren. Betsy also leaves behind 2 sisters, Muriel and Debbie, a brother Richard and many nieces and nephews.
Betsy was born in Kapuskasing to Clifford and Catherine Ham on September 6, 1931 in grandma Leitch's cabin. When she was 5 years old they moved to Toronto. She graduated from high school with Honours Western Technical Commercial School. In 1949 she met a guy named George (Bob) and in 1951 they were engaged to be married. They married October 17, 1952 and were married for 50 years before he passed away on January 10, 2003. They bought their first home in Scarborough where they lived for 32 years. In 1967, after having 3 children, Betsy returned to work at Bowmore Road School in the Bowmore Reading Clinic until her retirement in 1985. After retirement she moved to Bancroft and then to Peterborough.
Betsy loved to do anything about crafts (knitting, crocheting, etc.). She loved to knit hats for the premature babies at the hospital.
She will be sadly missed and cards and donations would be appreciated to the Alzheimer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be placed at www.jackandthompsonfuneralhome.com

So very sorry to hear of Betsy’s passing. We were fortunate to have her as our neighbour for many years in Peterborough. She was a wonderful independent woman who was quiet but had a great sense of humour. We spent many nights either walking or chatting about her family. May she Rest In Peace
