Eric POOL Obituary

To the Pool family. I had the pleasure of working with Eric for many years. A very thoughtful and caring man who treasured his wife Cath and his family. RIP Eric.

I started work as an apprentice Telephone technician in 1960 in New Plymouth coming from Rahotu.Eric I think then lived down the Manawatu way and took a promotion to come to New Plymouth probably around 1962/63 .He was a great mentor to me an other apprentices as well as being a "good" person and becoming a friend especially with our joint love of rugby.I left NZ in 1968 and have lived overseas since then and had only seen Eric and Kath a couple of time on trips back "home".I was recently back in NZ in Feb for two weeks and regret not getting to see him.Great memories and sincere condolences to Eric´s family.

Dear Michael Bev and Heather I´m pleased for Eric that he is now at rest but sad for you all that you´ve lost your lovely Dad and grandpa and great grandpa. It was always such a happy time when gentle loving Eric and Kate visited the Tochers, or I occasionally visited them in New Plymouth. Sending love to you all Naomi Tocher

A true legend has passed.
Uncle Eric loved his family more than anything and he always started conversations off with how is your family?
Was always proud of what they were doing and the Facebook updates, he loved to chat about his beloved Taranaki, Hurricanes and All Blacks rugby teams and who was playing well and who wasn´t and what he would do if he was the coach.
Will miss him but he will never be forgotten.

Each time I came to your home I was greeted warmly.
Eric was an orderly,tidy man every thing had its purpose and place.
Family was extremely important to Eric and he enjoyed talking about Family adventures.
A very caring and loving man, no nonsense man who always appreciated a visit.

I have many fond memories of growing up on Rosendale Ave with the Pool family.
Both Kath and Eric were very special people kind and caring.
In latter years I had the pleasure to reconnect in a professional capacity nothing had changed, I found the same kind caring people.
Eric was a lovely gentle man who adored his family unconditionally.

Eric was a much loved work mate and friend. He was so proud of his family who I know will miss him dearly. Deepest sympathy to you all.

Eric was a true friend of mine and always kept my family in his thoughts and prayers when we were living through a very traumatic period with a very sick daughter. I will never forget him. Reunited with his beautiful Cath.

Our dad, grandad, great-grandad, mentor and friend passed away on 10 April 2025. Gone to be with mum, the love of his life.

Our adored grandad passed away peacefully on 10th April 2025 surrounded by love. A deeply cherished grandad who will be missed beyond words of Angie and Vaughan Johnson. Forever loved and treasured great-grandad to Amy and Michael, Dylan and Ash and a very special great-great-grandad to Skylar and Eden.
