Gabrielle BARR Obituary
Peacefully at home on Sunday 7 June 2015 in her 80th year. Dearly loved wife of Jim. Loved mother and mother-in-law of Steve and Mary, Ange and Kay, Jane and John, Hum and Uschi, Dunc and Lyn. Loving grandmother to Thomas and Jo, Laura; Ellen, Cam; Maggie, Matt; Emelia, Georgina, Olivia; Katie and Sarah. Loved sister of Cynthia, Diana and Garth. Special thanks to the Taranaki Hospice and Omahanui Home Care Staff for the tenderness and kindness shown to Mum over the past few months. In preference to flowers donations to the Taranaki Hospice would be appreciated and may be left at the service. All messages to the Barr Family c/- Eagars Funeral Services, PO Box 75, Stratford 4352. A service to celebrate Gabrielle's life will be held at the Taranaki Cathedral of St Mary, Vivian Street, New Plymouth on Friday 12 June 2015 at 1.00pm. A private cremation will be held.

I will always remember and be thankful to Gabrielle for her support, encouragement and energy that she gave to Boys' High School in my early days of starting a choir and encouraging singing in the school. She has left a tremendous legacy. She lived a full life, touched so many hearts, changed so many lives, shared her energy, her enthusiasm, her knowledge and her passion. We will always remember Gabrielle. My condolences to the family. Adjusting to life without her strength and companionship will be hard. Lots of love to you all. Jocelyn Beath

My prayers & thoughts are with Gabrielle's family at this very sad time. I have many fond memories from Choir, Music lessons & Drama Group with Gabrielle, but I owe a great deal to Gabrielle for helping me study & achieve my LTCL Diploma in Vocal Performance. I'm living in London where I teach Singing & Piano.In 2 weeks I will be singing at a very prestigious Charity Gala Concert at Westminster Cathedral & in October I will Sing in a Polish Opera in the U.K. I have Gabrielle to thank for this, It's such a joy to have a life filled with Music & to be able to share this with others as Gabrielle has done!

A truly inspirational lady who was the driving force behind my Drama exploits at Opunake High. Many highlights and fond memories of those times. A legend in her own right. Mrs Barr thank you so much for pushing me at that time in my life which has lead me to be the person I am today.
