BERNADINE HUDECEK Obituary

I learned yesterday that my dear friend Bernadine “Bernie” Hudecek passed away. Bernie and I first met while working for State Compensation Insurance Fund back in 2001. Bernie and I bonded immediately. Bernie was the type of person who could put you at ease.

One of the many things that I loved about Bernie is that she had a nonjudgmental ear. I always felt safe confiding in her.

Bernie was kind, funny, and a saint. But, she was more than that, she was beautiful.

The last time I saw Bernie, it was an emotional goodbye. We both knew we’d never see each other again. Bernie had sold her home in Canyon Country and moved back to her home state of Ohio with her partner Chris.

your presence was a soft blossoming—
kindness unfolding
in every smile you shared.
Even after you retired,
your warmth stayed with us,
like sunlight lingering
long after the sun has slipped away.
Now you drift into peaceful rest,
light as a whisper,

we carry your gentleness forward—

My dear friend, Bernie, and coworker for many years you’ll be dearly missed from your SCIF family. You are a beautiful person.

Bernie you will be greatly missed. We will always have the wonderful memories of the great friendship we shared.

Bernie was the greatest. She was kind, had a great smile and a great laugh!! She was an adopted "Aunt" and was the greatest addition to our family. She will be forever missed.

Bernardine was my 2nd cousin and we only saw each other at holidays, weddings, and funerals. She was a cool lady and always enjoyed catching up with her. She will be missed greatly by many.

Bernadine was my first cousin, and although we did not have the chance to be together often, every visit with her was a joy. Whenever our paths crossed, she was such a delight to be around, and those memories will always be cherished.

In loving memory of a wonderful woman. We will love you and miss you always.

Bernie: You were truly a real joy to be around, you had the best laugh and such a kind heart. You touched so many lives with your humor, zest for life, and just love for everyone who entered your life. You and Chris made the perfect couple, a real match made in heaven. You will be missed on this earth and thought about everyday by the people who knew you. We love you so much.
