I am an electricain and was sent to work in the Chatham Island in 1975 and Gary was the Town Clerk there, at the moment I am writing my memoirs and as he was my boss there I remember him well and he had a VW car and I had to use it for my work. He was a really great guy and it was a pleasure to know him. He was at Akaroa before he came to the Chatham Island and I believe at the same job at both places. I was hoofing it one day in Garys VW and I got lift of on the crest of a rise on the road and it hit the news in the local before I got there but Gary never told me off or mentioned that he knew. A great guy and he helped make my working there a pleasure and am always remembered time. Rest in Peace Gary. Malcolm Hammond

Nora and family our deepest sympathy for the loss of Gary.
We have very fond memories of the Hunn family as neighbours during our time in Chatham Islands back in the '70's. Remembering the fun we had driving around the Island plus the social evenings. Best wishes to you all

We were so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. He was a tremendous help to me when I worked with Egmont Council - I won't forget his great sense of humour as well. Condolences to Nora and family
