Dear Andrea, Alistair, Karen and Duncan. We were sad to hear of Don´s passing. We are sorry for your loss. We often talk about the great times we had at the house in Kent Street - putting on plays while the parents had drinks ! Don was a good man. May he rest in peace. With love Emma and Louise Frazer.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Don's passing as he had telephoned me from Masterton hospital only a few days before he died. We talked about his planned move into a retirement village (similar to the one I am in) and his impending operation for a recommended Pacemaker implant at Wellington hospital. We also talked about what he might do with his beloved Lotus sportscar when he moved into the retirement village.

My friendship with Don goes back over 60 years when he was Master of the cargo ship Turakina plying between NZ and Japan. We were both employed by The New Zealand Shipping Company. I was then a shipping clerk in their Wellington office where the delightful Cynthia also worked in the passenger department. In fact it was me who later introduced Cynthia to Don. My loss, Don's gain as they eventually married! We continued our contact over the years even though we were on either side of Cook Strait. Don and I would often meet for a chat over a beer when he was in Wellington and my wife Margaret and I would always meet up with Don and Cynthia on our trips through Picton. We enjoyed our visit to their bach in the Sounds and the fishing trips. Don has always been a great friend and just a lovely guy. I shall miss him. Over the years I think I have met most of the Jamison family and can only offer them my sincere condolences on their loss. Unfortunately I am sorry that I am not able to attend the memorial service in Picton but I will be thinking of you.

My condolences to Don's family. It's been said that you can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him. My memory of Don was when I arrived in Picton in 1991 as a young, very green pilot in 1991. Don treated me with kindness and respect and was generous with his extensive knowledge when there was no need for him to do so. Farewell Captain Jamison.

A service to celebrate and farewell Don will be held at the Queen Charlotte Yacht Club, Picton, on Tuesday 23 September at 2pm. Please let others know. We hope everyone who would like to be there can join us.

My sincere condolences to the Family. I worked with Don for years at Strait Shipping. He was a lovely man and real gentleman.

Deepest sympathy to you all on Dons passing. My association with Don goes back to his time as Harbour Master and I was Commodore of Waikawa Boating Club. We had much contact as the Waikawa Marina was being developed and finding a home for the Waikawa Boating Club Clubhouse.
He was always helpful and our continued through the years.
He will be missed

I would like to offer my condolences to you all,I worked as an Engineer on the Straitsman and Suilven with Don as my captain from late 1992 until March 1997,Don wasn't my boss ,but a friend,his skill as a captain ,as a manager of people was excellent, working with Don ,was a great learning curve for me,I think of it as one the best jobs I have had in my life,there was some great fun times as well,as I lived in Mt maunganui, I drifted apart from both of these gentleman.I remember Cynthia fondly as well, they always welcomed me into there house. Even though I was a scruffy shaved head hoon at the time.My thoughts are with you all

I sailed with Don on the Straitsman and he always was very professional and helpful to me. We became very good friends and it was always nice to catch up. It was an honour to sail with Don and have our friendship. Our deepest condolences to all family members

To Alistair and family, I was deeply saddened to read of the passing of Don. I have known Don for more than 50 years, from him working with my father at the Marlborough Harbour Board, helping me find employment with the Post Office as well as being members of the Queen Charlotte Yacht Club. In later life I continue this friendship with Don over the bridge table and on the golf course. I will miss his friendship. Deepest condolences to all the family.
