Geoffrey BALKS Obituary

BALKS,
Geoffrey Allan "Fluff"
6.9.1954 – 16.7.2016

Geoff sadly passed away after a short battle with cancer. Much loved husband and friend of Debra. Loved Dad of Matthew, Craig, Luke and their partners and Ramon Wilmshurst. Loved Poppa of Emma and Hazel Balks and Caleb Wilmshurst. Son in law of George and Lauris Cawsey and brother in law of Gavin Cawsey. A private service has been held for Geoff, with a remembrance gathering to follow at a later date to be advised. Deb and the boys would like to sincerely thank Geoff's STOS workmates for taking time and sharing memories with Geoff during his three weeks in hospital and hospice. Our gratitude is also extended to the amazing staff at Te Rangimarie Hospice for their support, care and compassion of Geoff and his family. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Te Rangimarie Hospice in Geoff's memory.

Fluff I have so many great memories working with you. You teaching me all the tricks of the trade. My first boat lift was an experience like no other. Thank you for taking the time to pass on your knowledge and for making our job interesting and funny. MPB/MPA will never be the same without you and the sound of your whistle and tool belt jingling.

Gone to soon but never forgotten.

My deepest condolences to Debra and the boys ox

RIP Fluff

A fellow biker and work colleague who will be truly missed. I will always remember you Fluffy at the hard core Cold Kiwi Motorcycle Rally when you and Darcy rocked up to the dance floor drinking tea ! Priceless. ..Steve Webster,Wells I&E

For many years we have flown Fluff to and from work.
He was one of the true characters of the offshore industry. His professionalism and dedication was apparent in the many hours spent on the helideck, either as HLO or manning the fire equipment in all weathers. His humour and experience provided us with astute & humorous interpretations and translation of Corporate -speak.
His presence will be missed by all at HNZ, but he will surely never be forgotten.
We are richer for having known and work with him

BALKS, Geoff (Fluff):
Sadly passed away on Saturday July 16, 2016. A long serving and loyal workmate, friend and colleague of everyone at STOS. Fluff was a book of knowledge with a heart of gold and charisma to boot. Never a dull moment with his cheeky nature and confidence to stand up for what he believed.
