Dr. Nathaniel H. Wiesenfeld, 78, of Atlantic City and Boca Raton, Florida passed away on October 8th. He grew up in Highland Park, New Jersey, graduated Highland Park High School in 1964, Rutgers University with a degree in Biology in 1968, and Temple University School of Medicine in 1972. Nathaniel completed his residency in Radiology at the University of California - San Diego. He served two years active duty as a radiologist at the United States Army Base of Fort Bragg in North Carolina. After his service in the U.S. Army, Nathaniel worked at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center from 1981 to 2012, when he retired after 31 years as the Head of the Department of Radiology.
Nathaniel was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, step grandfather, brother and uncle. His sincere affection for others was only equaled by his reserved strength, as well as the wisdom, both personal and professional, that he so often bestowed to his friends and family. Nathaniel was predeceased by his son, Brian L. Wiesenfeld and stepson, Louis M. Capecci, M.D.
Nathaniel is survived by his wife of 18 1/2 years, Phyllis M. Perkins, M.D.; children: Michael (Eleonora) Wiesenfeld, Susie (Mark) Shrem; stepchildren: Sara (Todd) Dollar, Stephen Capecci, Daniel (Lindsay) Capecci, and Miriam Hoffman; first wife of 35 years, Nancy Wiesenfeld; grandchildren: Charlie, Jacob, Teddy, and Levi; step grandchildren: Elle, Abby, Grey, Parker, Addison, Isla and Bailey; brother: Jay (Kay) Wiesenfeld; and nephews: David (Alexandra) Wiesenfeld and Eric (Van) Wiesenfeld.
Synagogue services will be held Friday October 10th at 12 noon at Congregation Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield. A livestream will be offered at www.JSGFunerals.com for those unable to attend. Interment will follow at the Beth Kehillah Cemetery, Egg Harbor Township.
