A service will be held 11.00am on Friday 23rd February at CityWest Church, 62c Poplar Grove, New Plymouth. One of life's good buggars and best mate. Will so much miss the humor and lively discussions over the tea cups. No one could quite rock the 'blue overalls' like you. Miss you my friend xx

To our best friend and all round good bugger Herbie.
Your infectious laugh was like music to our ears and your zest for life was contagious. Was a huge privilege to have played/partied and worked alongside you Herb.
Will miss the near daily in-depth conversations filled with wit and humor.
You weren't meant to be leaving us this soon and have left a massive hole in our hearts.
Was an honour to be by your side as you rode through those red bull arches for the last time.
Love you always xxxxxx

So lovely to reconnect with you guys recently. Dougy and Grant made the trips to Korito Road in the dodgy weather worthwhile. Many hours enjoyed reminiscing and tall tales over a cuppa, waiting for the rain to clear. We will really miss Grant a lot. Think of you guys often.

To Dougy and family deepest condolences for your loss of one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to ever meet, Herbie. Thanks Herbie for the memories. You made a memorable trip to Australia a bit over 37 years ago to Alison and my wedding with your best mate Brian. That was pretty special for you to do that. I love all sorts of bikes, Brian loves his bikes and I know you do as well so I feel that link. Go the Romaniacs yeah.

So sorry to see your families have had to say a final goodbye to Grant having been part of such a hard working strong farming family. Doug and Lorraine were always so welcoming when our branch of the family moved to Kent Rd in the 80s.

Doug, Lynley and family. Sad to hear of Grants passing. I have fond memories of us moving into the neighborhood and the Herberts as our neighbours, never a dull moment. Grant had such a infectious laugh, with a happy go lucky attitude and always ready to lend a helping hand.

So sorry to hear that Grant has passed away. The last time we saw him was at Lorraine's funeral not that long ago where he and Grant shared a joke about him being Grant's namesake. We were not to know then that the next time they would meet up would be in a very different place. My thoughts go to all the family with memories of days gone by.

Grant..... Had no idea you had a massive challenge. Your life's largest. You were always the most welcoming friendliest and large as life person on my Radar. I remember you being brought home in the bassinet and your Dad putting you on the couch, announcing to me, "Grant Anthony.... he has a movie star name". Your Dad was the proudest I can ever remember seeing him and I was honored to be the 1st cousin to meet you. I followed you the next 54 years and was thrilled the way you embraced the Herbert farm, knowing that it would be in Herbert hands keeping our heritage alive. May the legacy continue. So soon my friend, gutted you had to leave us so soon.
Your cousin.... 'Pete' as you called me.
