Gregory BROWN Obituary

23.11.1949 – 12.7.2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gregory James Brown, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on 12 July 2025. Greg lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering love for his family. His presence was a gentle anchor in the lives of those who knew him-a man of wisdom, kindness, and integrity. He leaves behind his devoted wife Grace, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Greg was the deeply proud father of Andrew, Nick (and his wife Lianne), Katherine (and her partner Kieran), and Marta (and her partner Carl). His greatest joy in recent years was being "Poppa Greg" to his treasured granddaughters and grandsons (Addie, Eve, Everly, Jack and Maddie), whose laughter and light brought him immense happiness. Greg approached life with sincerity, humility, and a dry wit that brought smiles to many. He loved the simple pleasures, and he found meaning in small, everyday acts of care - and in doing so, left an enduring legacy of love. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are grateful for the gift of Greg's life and the countless ways he enriched ours. His spirit will remain with us always- in the values he lived by, in the stories we share, and in the love that continues to bind us together. A private farewell will be held in accordance with Greg's wishes. The family kindly invites you to honour Greg's memory by performing an act of kindness for someone in need. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice Taranaki would be sincerely appreciated. Bank account number: TSB Bank 15-3948-0365008-080. The family invite you to extend your sympathies and share your memories by messaging [email protected].

Forever in our hearts.
Rest gently, Greg.

It was with great sadness that we learned of Greg´s passing, although it sounds like it may have been a blessing at the end.
When we think of Greg, we remember all the fun times we had together, either attending rugby matches or just enjoying each other´s company over a barbeque and a few beers/ make that many beers.
I personally will always remember Greg´s support when Shirley and I were going through some issues, it was great to have some one who was not judgmental and understood the issues.
Greg had a very quiet nature, but was a very deep thinker and a great reader of people.
If his read of people didn´t fit then he quietly let you know.
Looking back, it was great to be able to catch up with you both, on your visit last year and at that time he appeared to be copying so well.
We trust that you are being enclosed in the love of your family at this time.
Stay strong in your faith and know that we will all meet again in the future.
