Ian BATES Obituary

On 20 September 2024, peacefully at home. Dearly loved husband of Eleanor, loving father of Irene and Phillip, loving Grandfather of Katrina, James, Olivia and Ashley, and loving Great-Grandfather of Sophie. A service for Ian will be held at the Central Park Drive Chapel of Davis Funeral, 150 Central Park Drive, Henderson, Auckland, on Saturday 28 September at 1.00pm. All communication to the Bates Family, C/- P O Box 56013, Auckland 1446.

Sail away safely Ian, From the first day we met you, sitting on board Running Free to talking Ali & I into buying her and falling love with her as you and Elanor did. When I got the call I had just taken some photos of her having a new paint job. Your grey hat still covers the compass and Elanors travel bar sits on the shelf in the forward cabin alongside two others. Hopefully Elanor will visit and see your boat looking as good as when you owned her. You are ever in our thoughts. Graeme & Ali
