I was saddened to hear that Frankie had passed. I was fortunate to co-captain our Clifton Rugby side and I can attest to his bravery and leadership qualities. After recent lower back surgery I was able to get Frankie and Alison to mow my lawns, they were an amazing team, I thank you both for your professionalism and friendship.

My sincere condolences to you. Frankie thought the world of you all.
I didn't know Frankie was unwell so I'm still getting over the shock of the sad news.
As you know I coached Frankie in the Senior 2nds from 1976 to 1979 and he was Captain for a couple of years during that time. This team had a comraderie that was 2nd to none and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together both on and off the field. While I have a lot of fond memories of those times there are some things that stick in your mind. One thing I will never forget was when the 2nds played Eltham's first team at Taumata Park in Eltham. The scores were close and suddenly Eltham's big prop, Chopper as he was known (the biggest player on the field at close to 20 stone), came charging from a maul and made a bee line for Frankie (one of the smallest players on the field and close to 10 stone on a rainy day when his jersey was wet and heavy). Frankie had the heart of a lion and boy could he tackle. Frankie went around Choppers boot laces and Chopper hit the ground hard. So hard in fact that he left the field with a shoulder injury. Frankie was ribbed for the rest of the night about being a bully.
Frankie, a great bloke and great company.

Please accept my condolences and sympathy on Ian's passing. I hadn't caught up with Ian for awhile and it's now with regret.
I had known Ian since FDMC school days and he was a good guy and he will be missed. Makes you think how short life is and to make the most of every day.
