Dear Yvonne and family. It is difficult to find adequate words, but please accept our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of Ian.
Ian has not only been a very dear brother, but also a great friend to me and Peter and all our family. Ian was very much a family man, loving the interactions with his own and the wider family.
Some memories to share - as a kid, Ian had a cheeky grin and curly blonde hair which he later tried to grow long - it was too curly and stuck out! Ian loved the farm from a young age, helping out Mum (Billie) and Dad (John), and farm life remained as his happy place.
He grew up into a lovely young man, discovering along the way things like wind surfing, sailing, boating, "shircles" while camping, off-roading, badminton, and of course the love of his life Yvonne.
Ian had a great smile, loved music and dancing (including some ballroom dancing in his teens), enjoyed parties (even driving to Wellington to party!). He also drove to Wellington at times to support me, and I have good memories of holidays with Ian, and later on with Yvonne too.
Ian has told us he did not enjoy reading as a kid but loved it with his grandkids and grand nieces and nephews when they visited. He loved to give his kids, nieces and nephews ride-on fun, and helped family with advice and planning of a new home.
I will cherish the great memories I have of Ian and the love and friendship we shared.
Rest in peace Ian
With love and much sadness at losing you.
Gail, Peter and our family

To my adored brother and friend, life won't be the same without you. We had so many good times over the years. You loved to host parties with plenty of dancing and music. Your constant smile was infectious, one couldn't help but want to be in your presence. Thank you for being there when I needed your help. I am confident in saying you were a builder extraordinaire and trustworthy with it. My heart goes out to Yvonne and family, it's been a tough time.

Rest in peace now.
