I'm sorry I couldn't hang around yesterday to catch up with you all. But I'm so glad you put the photo of my mum and dad up while they were on holiday with Jack and Shirley, they talked alot about the time they had with them on an amazing trip

It has been a pleasure to have worked with Jack on STDC for some years then renewing friendship once again when we both retired to New Plymouth

We were extremely sad to hear of your dear Dad's passing.
Jack and Shirley were treasured friends of our Mum and Dad (Don and Melva Gray) and Jack was Dad's best man at their wedding on 15th June 1957.
They maintained a wonderful friendship over the years that included several memorable holidays together.
I will always remember "Uncle Jack" being a kind, caring, knowledgeable man, and a true gentleman.

New Plymouth Pakeke Lions Club acknowledges the passing of Past member Jack Hawkes, who was a member of this Club for sixteen years when he and Shirley retired to New Plymouth. Jack was a very popular member and president in the year 2011-2012. Thank you Jack for your services to Lionism and the wider community of Taranaki and more.

So sorry to hear of Jack´s passing. Jack was an outstanding cricketer for the Eltham Cricket Club over many years and it was a pleasure for me (Alan) to have played some exciting games with him during that time (late1950s).
A very sad loss. We will all treasure our memories of Jack. We never missed exchanging Christmas cards with Shirley and Jack over nearly 60 years.

It was a great pleasure to not only work with Jack on the farm and the Farm Cadet Board, but he was an amazing mentor . His advice and encouragement were always freely given. Our condolences, to all the family and friends, he will be missed greatly-one of the good guys.
