Jack van-der-SAR Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Summerset Mountain View on Wednesday 28 May 2025. Aged 96 years. Life-long beloved husband of the late Eelkje. Treasured father and father-in-law of John (deceased), Irene and Steve, Cornelis (deceased), Ian and Lorraine, Susan and Ross Johnson, Mark and Joy, Jocelyn and Brian Tilbrook, and friend Dan. Much loved Opa of Jana-Liese and Jozien; Tara, Samuel and Bethany; Nicole and Cameron; Hannah and Aria; Kaitlin and Rebecca and their partners. Special great-grandfather of Charlie, Thea, Hannah, Tom, Zoe plus two on the way. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at St Paul's Co-operating Church, Opunake, on Friday 6 June 2025 at 11.00am, after which a private burial at Opunake Cemetery.

My condolence go out to Irene,Ian,Susan,Mark,Jocelyn I had wonderful memories staying with your beautiful parents when on school holidays at your place on the farm.Your parents were great friends to my parents .Your dad always was there to help my dad in the hay making seasons.I always called your dad as 0pa Jarp and your mother tante Erelkje because they were like family to me Your dad saw me in hospital with my bad ankle when I came off the roof working for Ashmans Roofing he knew it will never come right like a cow on the farm .You can put a cow down but not a human.Your dad was a very special man well respected by us all he will be very much missed now that he has passed away but his memories will be with us forever May he R.I P

So sorry to hear of the passing of Jack or Jarp as we knew him. Your father and mother were such close friends to my parents and always went out of their way to visit them even when they lived in Opunake and had to drive home sometimes quite late. Jarp and Eelkje were true and caring friends to so many, now they´re together again and having a catch up cuppa with everyone: Thinking of you all at this sad time John Hutterd and families.

To jacks family. I met jack and elk several years ago they were both my nana James friends at church and in the community as well. What amazing friendlist couple I have ever met we have so much Friendly chats even after my nana had passed away. Both have heart of gold will be sadly missed forever in my heart
