I've just heard the news (March 1st 2024) -so sorry to hear of his death. I was at vet school with Giles, and like him emigrated to New Zealand, but sadly only visited hime once since leaving vet school. Condolences to Erin and family

Giles was a good pal during Uni years and introduced me to the delights of National Hunt Racing, a hobby I still enjoy passionately. I have enduring memories of sharing a pint at the end of a long week, cap on head, Barbour coat on back, roll up to his lips, chatting about anything and everything, enriching Bristol life. Next time I go racing I will have a flutter and a Guinness in his honour and listen to Talk Talk on the way (a great album!). He left his mark on me for sure. For that I will be eternally greatful. I was very saddened to hear of the loss of Giles. We were at university together in Bristol and have fond memories of those early years. And I loved his stories of vetting in the Orkneys. My condolences and sympathy to his family and close friends.

So sad to hear about Giles. I have fond memories as a new graduate, being impressed with his quick wit, veterinary prowess and affinity with farmers. A real life James Herriot! Our black Labrador Lara is named after his beloved dog who we also loved, and he educated all about his beloved Orkney Islands. Lost but never forgotten.

Erin, Linley, Alex, Emma, we were so sorry to hear about Giles. We remember him joining Eltham vets and have so many good memories of times with him when we lived in Taranaki. He had such a good heart and we know you must all be devastated to lose him. It was great to catch up with him whenever we were over and to enjoy his unique sense of humour and some new tall tales we had never heard before. You are all in our thoughts at this time and we will always remember Giles and his many kindnesses to us over the years.

Struggling for words! This man was my mentor as a new graduate and soon became a lifelong friend. Giles had so much passion for dairy cows and this was infectious!! It did take me a few months to work out that `swamp fever´ was his way of saying yersiniosis!!
He was the best mentor and while being overwhelmed by cases at the weekend hearing him say `Do you want me to come and help?´ And the personal sacrifice that involved certainly meant a lot!

Giles introduced us to the world of endurance vetting. One which we are still involved with today just across the Tasman! He also enabled us to work in the Orkney Islands in Scotland and met all his wonderful friends there!

We enjoyed many a whiskey and wine around the kitchen table and will be raising our glasses again tonight!!
Giles we will miss you.

Love
Colleen and Khyle

To Alex & Emma, Erin & Linley
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Giles. I worked with him at the vets for 8 years and he was always good to deal with and was such good knowledge of animals. We also used to endurance ride together and would always have a good yarn at the end of the day over a wine. Latley I have enjoyed catching up with him at Emma's horse events. He was such a character I will miss his stories and quick witt. Love to you all at this hard time. From Lisa & Barts, Zach & Madi xx
