Am sorry to hear of the passing of Jim. Sending love to family and friends and just want to share a memory from when I was young and entertained by Jim...
He was driving us to Vidals Restaurant for dinner one night and said to us kids ... now you know I am colour blind so you need to yell out what the colour is of the traffic lights so I know what to do... we laughed all the way ... then to our horror when we got there he said he was wearing his slippers in to dinner... we pleaded with him please don´t ... to this day I still remember the colour of them "purple"

I am happy to say he did wear shoes to dinner but it is still a mystery if he really was colour blind or not...
RIP Jocelyn

Our Deepest Condolences on the passing of Jim.
I am pleased I was able to talk to Jim on his Birthday.
I first met Jim when I went to Fitzroy School in Standard 4 1945. We became friends, and that friendship remained.
Although I was in the Bank and was transferred a lot we still kept in touch.
I remember the day he and Bev called into the Bank in Hawera and he asked if I would be his best man at his and Bev's forth coming wedding. Of course I said yes.
Many years later I returned the favour of asking him to be my best man at Kath and my wedding in Picton 1963. Of course he said yes.
Jim said he would never forget the ferry trip from Wellington to Picton. He was sick during the whole trip. It was a terrible crossing through Cook Straight . The Interislander Ferry, had to anchor in Picton Harbour. Passengers had to be taken ashore from the Ferry by tender
Unfortunately Pam was unable to make the trip.
Although we lived in many different places we always kept in touch.
Jim was my oldest and longest friend. A true friend.
I will miss him
God be with you Jim.

Sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a longtime member. The last time I remember him wasn't that long ago when he came for a cart to play 9 holes. He will be missed at the club.
