John was one of our "out the back after school apprentices" at Joe Bros in Stratford in the 80s. A quiet shy boy who worked well. Condolences to his family and friends

So sad and shocked to hear of John's death. Many a good time was had with him and other friends in our youth. He was always lots of fun to be around.

He took the bold step of buying the almost defeated Awakino hotel and he (+ Sean & Co) turned it around and back into what it should always have been, a rural NZ oasis and social focal point for the whole of Taranaki.
