To John family my deepest sympathy I knew John through the New Plymouth Club when I did the Salvation Army Outreach on Friday nights, my late wife Wendy & myself thank John for the time we talked & the gift John gave, May God Bless you all. Dingo Smith Salvation Army,

To me John,

It's not how did you die, but how did you live?
Not what did you gain, but what did you give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was your church, or what was your creed?
But had you befriended those really in need?
Were you ever ready, with a word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to quiet a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sad when you passed away.

You're a man of true worth in my eyes and I will miss you very much.
