Dear Carole, we were upset to hear about John´s passing. He was a family friend for many years and helped us with advice on the farming side . Our parents ,Joy and Peter, really enjoyed his company and stories about his hunting and fishing.
He continued his interest in our family and farm well after he retired .
Will always think of him fondly

I first met John in 1966. We both played rugby for the Te Kuiti senior team and became free firm friends ever after. We shared many diving , fishing ,sailing adventures. John was good-natured, calm under pressure, Had a very wry sense of humour was well balanced, unassuming and non-judgemental.
Jane and I have many fond and precious memories of the times we spent together over the years . RIP dear John

So very sad to hear of Johns passing on Sunday. As a family freind John took the time from his busy life to take a keen wide eyed 12 year old boy and show him the ways of the New Zealand wilds. Many years of great times followed from that first meeting and there are way to many adventures to mention here. He was a free spirit and a great inspiration to me and it will be very sad knowing that he's not around. All my condolences to Carol and the greater family.
See you on the other side John. The Kid !

To Carole, and John's wider family. Sincere condolences on the passing of John Wells. I have only seen him sparingly in recent years but wish to acknowledge his kindness and support for the dairy farming community he worked with over a long period of time. His wisdom, humour, compassion and easy-going manner saw him held in high esteem by many farmers. After a discussion group with John in attendance, we all had a bit more spring in our step for the afternoon milking...This news, although sad, brings back fond memories of those days. He was a great man.
Kind Regards from the Hall family at Albert Road, past and present.

My sincere condolences to you and your family Carol. John was an essential support to me when I was farming in Inglewood. A kind and gentle man who was an excellent advisor.
