Joseph BROUGHTON Obituary

BROUGHTON, Joseph Ronald. - Son of Haka (Tom) Broughton and Ruihi Te Morere Whatitiri. Born 1st January 1929, passed away peacefully on 9 June 2014 at Port View Rest Home in New Plymouth, surrounded by his loving whanau and friends. Aged 85 years. Joe is survived by his wife Bettie (nee Luke), Karl & Carleen , Vaana & Garry Mumby, Anna and Kristina, and Kristin & Glen Katu, and many mokopuna and great grand mokopuna. Brother of Tommy & Ngaire, Jacqui & Billy Larkins, brother in law of Frank Amor and the late Walla. Brother of Jack Rangapu & Maggie, Peter, Bill, Nancy & Bill Walker, Josie Gertrude & Chappie Smith, Ruby & Chas Lilley, Amy & Pat Hona, Rewa, Maria & Jack Jackson (All Dec).
He will lay in state on Tuesday evening at the family home, 80 Ngamotu Road, New Plymouth, then will be taken to Kairau Marae, Matarikoriko Road, Waitara on Wednesday at 1pm. The funeral service will be held at Kairau Marae on Friday 13 June 2014, at 11am followed by internment at Ngahinepouri urupa, Bell Block. Na reira e te rangatira, haere, haere, haere.
