Bohdan TURCHYN Obituary
TURCHYN, Bohdan (Ben, Benny) Ben passed peacefully, on August 9, 2022, at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, in his 90th year. Loving husband to Olga Turchyn (predeceased); devoted father to Gregory, Steven and Michael; "Dido" to Jack and Lauren; and the eldest of six sons of Luka and Maria Turchyn. Beloved brother and brother-in-law to: Maurice and Claire, Nick (predeceased) and Heather, Zenon (predeceased) and Anne, Terry and Eleanor (both predeceased), and Walter and Stella. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews, extended family in France and Alberta, and other dear friends. Ben was born and raised in Montreal, attended D'Arcy McGee High School and Sir George Williams, and then had a long career with CN Rail, the Canadian Salt Company and Allied Chemical. In his teens, he took a keen interest in photography and became a part-time professional weekend photographer for many weddings. In retirement, he travelled, joined a bowling league and self-taught himself to digitize photos and home made movies for his family and friends. In his later years, he moved to Mississauga to be closer to his grandchildren, and completed the daily crossword puzzles which made him impossible to beat at Scrabble. His sons have very fond memories of the many family trips he took them on, all across Canada and the US. He will be missed greatly. Family and friends will be received at the Mont Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at 1 p.m., and then burial will follow at Cotes Des Neiges Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ivan Franko Senior Residence in Mississauga.
