Reading these old news articles brings back memories, as if Keith is still alive and among us. What he did that day in September 2003 is unforgettable. I wouldn't be here today without him.

It is with profound sadness that I have learned of Keith's passing. This extraordinary man saved my life. My name is Rafael, and in 2003, Keith took me for a horse ride up in the hills near Whangamomona. To cut a long story short, my horse was behaving erratically that day, and the weather was poor. At one point, the horse slipped and slid downhill for about 20 metres, landing on top of me. I remember waving to Keith before losing consciousness.

When I awoke, I was surrounded by people. I had apparently fallen face down in the mud and swallowed my tongue. Keith, with incredible bravery, descended the steep hill, pulled the horse off me, and, guided by what he later described as 'angelic voices,' managed to retrieve my tongue, allowing me to breathe again. Keith is my personal hero. I owe him everything. Thank you, Keith, for your selflessness and courage.
