Saddened to hear of Marie's passing earlier in the day from a mutual colleague/ friend still based in Auckland. I had last seen her in Hawera for lunch back in 2018 or 2019. A reunion organised by same friend.
I met Marie at Cornwall Park District School in May, 1987. She was STJC and interested in my path towards a B.Ed. (Massey). In May, 1991 I graduated and it was a joy to have her as a guest in the ceremony: along with my late father, late brother and late aunt.
Marie had acquired a new camera, from memory, and I have her photos to this very day. She always took pleasure in my later educational achievements: encouraging academic pursuits in particular.

Saddened to read today of Kura's passing. Along with her parents, brothers and sisters the Taylor family will long be remembered by folks who lived in Waitara. Kura was a legend in the teaching profession. Her thesis, to be honoured with a PhD at a late age, should be a worthwhile read for all who have lived or are still living in Waitara. To all those of the Taylor Whanau, my sincere sympathy at this very sad time. Warwick Dugdale
