Many memories of growing up in New Plymouth with the Cleland cousins: our hilarious dinners and playing in the sawdust at the mill site. [no way could we do that now]

Dear Jill and Family,
So sad to learn of the finality of Laurie's life in his recent passing. We had many happy times at the Cleland household, and with the two of you at your home, in our home here in Kansas. Remembering your many happy times coming to our country to ski in Aspen however we didn't manage a ski trip here together. I did clamber around the cliffs of Egmont lugging skis with the ski club a number of times so many years ago. We were young then!!
Please give my love to all you family and especially yourself also remembering my 51 one year old Andrew named after your man.

Jill and Family sorry to hear of Laurie's passing I worked in the Cleland office for 6 odd years and had a lot to do with Laurie. The best job I have ever had working for Clelands as the only girl among 40 odd men who all treated me with great respect Laurie was a great guy whom I really enjoyed working with can't believe so many years have gone by and Laurie was 80 years of age
My thoughts are with you all

I pass onto you dear Jill and your family my deepest sympathy on the death of your beloved Laurie. I will never forget those growing up years when my family and myself lived opposite Laurie's family and how every summer and autumns we would get out in the evenings all of us and the Cleland clan and play French Cricket on the Cleland's front lawn and whenever the ball went over the fence invariably it would be Laurie or Ross who would go and retrieve it from the next door neighbour's section and Mr Ellison's section which was diagonally across the road. Those were the golden years. Love from Margaret

My deepest sympathy goes out to you dear Jill and your family on the very sad news of your beloved Laurie passing away. I will never forget those years when my siblings and I had living opposite your Laurie and his parents and siblings. They were the golden years and Laurie and the rest of us living at No 5 and 6 Strandon Place New Plymouth all got on so well together and I remember the many summers and autumns when we used to get out in the evenings after dinner and play French Cricket and whenever the ball went over the fence invariably it would be Laurie or Ross jumping over the fence and retrieving the ball. Oh those were the carefree days.
