I was so sorry to learn from Beth of Lawrie's death and my sympathies are with you and your family Pat. I remember Lawrie as a very kind, good person with a lovely sense of humour.

Lawrence and I were classmates at Hawera Convent-probably 1944 until 1951.I am sure that the War trenches depressions were still visible on the play area in 1944.. Someone gave him the nickname "Tractor" when heshowed us his version of rugby at playtime.
He was always cheerful.Twenty years later we metin business matters. His ability and judgment were impressive afterworking in Wellington.Palmerston North,Taranki etc.in his successful career in insurance. We met again often in recent years.Lawrence was always good company. My condolences to his family.
