Lee HURLEY Obituary

HURLEY, Lee Alexander:
Born 13th September 1950. Died 23rd April 2021. Passed away peacefully at Annie Brydon Rest Home in Hawera. Lee was a prominent Taranaki driving instructor and educator who prided himself on being able to drive anything with wheels and quite a few things without. He devoted his later life to educating the young people of Taranaki in Defensive Driving and the skills that he taught will continue to save lives for years to come. Lee was also the driving force behind the exclusive Rusty Nuts Motorcycle Club whose 1000 Miler and Southern Cross events were a significant part of the New Zealand motorcycling calendar for 25 years. He will be missed by the literally thousands of people whose lives he touched and welcomed home by his wife Gail who has been waiting patiently for him on the far side since 2019. He is survived by his son Robert, brother Max, and nieces Rachel and Rebecca. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the SPCA or the RSA in Lee's name would be deeply appreciated. A small service will be held at Vospers Funeral Home in New Plymouth.
