Sorry that I am not able to join you tomorrow as you celebrate and remember Aunty Leone. She holds a special place in my heart, especially for all of my Matau holidays. The gentleness, kindness and love she showed in taking on the little town girl when she often had no other kids at home to entertain me. At family gatherings she would always make sure that I got a piece of her apple shortcake. She made me feel like she made it just for me. Rest in Peace Aunty Leone.

Saddened to hear of the loss of your kind & thoughtful Mum. I have such fond memories of the time I spent with you all at
Matau during my stays with
Faye & Gerald in my younger
years. I always considered her
as "Aunty" Leone & you
(Jenny, Shirley, Colleen, Steven
& Roger) as cousins. Thinking
of you all especially tomorrow.

Growing up in Matau I often went to stay with the Smith Family as a primary school student. Leonie was always so kind to me and I loved her beautiful orchard. They were the best plums. RIP

Heartfelt condolences. So sorry we can't be with you all during this time as you celebrate, commiserate and remember your gentle Mum.
My lasting memory is as a child sitting on the floor in the sitting room before bed and Aunty Leonie cutting the 'bad bits' off wind fall apples in a bowl on her knee. Forever in my heart Rest in Peace my 2nd Mum.
